£5000 Guaranteed...??
What a joke.
What type of a casino advertises a £200+20 tournament with £5000 guaranteed prize pool for the players to get there and then see a piece of paper printed out stating...
"Todays £200 Freeze out tournament, will need a minimum of 20 players for the prize pool to stand"
How can that possibly be guaranteed? Adding on little terms on the day of the tournaments, makes a mockery of the whole advertised tournament and casino in general.
People have made plans to play in that tournament and made arrangements to ensure that they can attend, only to be told a minimum of 20 players.
If the prizepool is not met it is of no fault of the players, it is purely down to bad advertising / badly run card room, meaning customers are not willing to play in something that can at times be run very poorly. If it is not met casino should still stand by it, you canr est assured that more business will be lost because of this: For Example the next time a guaranteed tournament is schedulde nobody will bother to attend on the basis of todays tournament.
Its an absolute embarrasment.
Another few notes...
Why no card room supervisor on a £50+5 tournament, whilst on a final table? Friday evening a card was found in the middle of the game that had a mark on it, it took 3-4 minutes for a replacement card to be provided, purely down to the fact that the casino had no card room supervisor there. Do we not pay our £5a fee for a well organised and run tournament? Obviously time is key in any tournament specifically towards the end.
Hatton Fight?
Yesterday the hatton fight was shown in the casino and casnio had gone to good lengths to let customersknow it would be on. There were a fair few people in the sportsbook section ready for the fight. Did anyone use the logic that the poker room has 6 tv screens which was showing the fight, why not use the microphone and advertise that the hatton fight can be watched whilst playing poker so if anyone was interested in a cash game to make the way to the poker room? I thought it was a casino and not a basic boozer, so I would have thought the casino would go to lengths to advertise its features instead of the same services that a standard pub has. This would have helped keep the cash games going which appear to be dying at the moment, largely down to the fact that the poker tournament schedule is not very exciting specifically on a Saturday (£5 Re-Buy) the tournaments entice people to come to the casino and they eventually play in the cash games after, yet yesterday I went casino at around 11pm (on a Saturday Night, the weekend when everyone was sure to be paid) and to my shock there was no cash games there or any players showing an interest, didnt take me long to realise why.

Re: £5000 Guaranteed...??
As a new member of the forum, I would like to say firstly that except of some organizational mistakes, everything is looking pretty good on this new casino.
Of course everything isn't perfect and there are some gaps regarding informations, booking of seats etc., but day by day there is some improvements.
Even about the Sunday's "mistake" about the minimum entries, I think it's logical that there has to be a minimum number of players in order for the quaranteed prize to be achieved. The mistake here is communicational and of course 'jscouser2002' has every right to be mad - but if you think about it, there cannot an offer of ₤5000 if there are only 10-12 people!
As far as the buy-ins and the other notes of 'jscouser2002', I would like to add that the cash games are pretty expensive! People came to watch the fight, ok, but most of them didn't have ₤100-150 to lose to other more experienced players. Most of them (and I am including myself of course) are players that are used to play online on a $0,10 to 0,50 big blind tables and on $5 freezeout tournaments - the amount of ₤100-150 is too big for us...
This is why the 120 seat ₤5 tournament was packed and had that much success! First of all it was a freezeout and secondly people came to the casino for a night out (as the ad says!), having to spent only the buy-in and something for drinks. Of course most of them stayed more and played other games - and even a cash table was full. But imagine if there were some cash tables of ₤0,10-0,20 or 0,25-0,50 - these would be packed too.
I realise that the casino policy maybe is another one, but my suggestions are:
1) On Saturdays, there should be a ₤5+5 (or better: ₤5+0,50!) FREEZEOUT tournament instead of a similar rebuy one.
2)There should be some cash games with lower blinds.

Re: £5000 Guaranteed...??
Each to their own, but the idea of £5 a tournaments ona saturday kills off the higher stakes games which is no good for the casino anyway.
The idea of a guaranteed tournament is, the casino takes an educated gamble that they will get x players and can guarantee the pot themselves for that amount. They then use their marketing skills to promote the tournament as much as they can, to ensure they get the maximum players they can. If they can not fulfill that then it is their own fault themselves for taking an incorrect estimate for how many players they can meet and for failing in their marketing strategy
