Straddeling - Good or Bad ?
As the ongoing debate works it way around the world, we thought we would start a thread you can all add your views / thoughts on straddeling.
The question is NOT should we allow it - The question is
IS STRADDELING GOOD IN CASH GAMES, and what advantages / disadvantages does it bring to the players at the table ?
Fire away...............

Re: Straddeling - Good or Bad ?
The good thing about straddling is if you hit pocket aces for example and straddle to lets say 4, your going to get a few callers so when it gets back to you with the free option holding pockets aces you can do another little raise and most of the people are already kind of commited = huge pot for a nice hand
The bad thing is if you are holding 72 then your screwed haha

Re: Straddeling - Good or Bad ?
It is good in slow games. Personally i dont want to play in any game that is slow, due to players (or in some cases dealers). I will add a straddlign to stop people who are continually limping in and dwelling on weak hands, only to not be really interested in game and spend more time speaking to those around them and not realising when its their turn, taking to long to make decisions with weak hands.
I think that a big part of it is down to it being someones choice. If somebody doesnt want to play in a game thats has straddling as an option then they dont sit down. The poker room is getting busier of a weekend and often there are 2 or 3 tables at once. It is more than feasible to have one table that has no straddling, if necessary.
Every night, when playing at the casino with the regular players nobody ever objects to a straddle, i dont think i can ever recall it. To me some new players may not like it (not really seen any object to it though), but it is a concept of poker and an exciting one too. If one player objects to it, then i think rightly so then it shouldnt be done, but if nobody objects why say no?
Keep in mind that the players that want to have the option to straddle, are those that are their every night the regulars. The people that may not, are totally newcomers who may only ever come once. I would assume although the house aim is to please everyone, it is not always possible, but the objective should be to keep the regulars happy as they are the ones that provide the most profit to the house long term.
This should be kept in mind when deciding what players would not like a straddle option ont able (new players) and those who would like the option (regular players)
